February 5 is known as Super Tuesday in the U.S., when 24 American
states, including New York and California, will hold their primary caucus
elections. Topics: American politics and American history; the environment,
globalization, international political economy and agriculture.
February is Black History Month, sponsored by Canadian Heritage. Topics:
include African American and Canadian history; slave trade, Canada's relationship
with slavery and the Underground Railroad.
February is Heart and Stroke Month, sponsored by the Heart and Stroke
Foundation. Topics: educational interventions for cardiac patients and
women's heart health; language, memory and cognitive Impairments.
The week of Feb. 3-9 is Eating Disorders Awareness Week, sponsored by
the National Eating Disorder Information Centre. Topics: eating disorders,
body image and obsessive-compulsive disorders.
The first week of February is International Development Week, sponsored
by the Canadian International Development Agency. Topics: international
development and migrant workers; social conditions of migrant women in

Feb. 12 is Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness Day, sponsored
